Congestion charge scam

Oh boy! I'll think twice before I sneer at gullible people getting caught by obvious scams in future. (But only momentarily, obviously.)

Here's the story:

I was up in London early - before the congestion charge kicked in - and parked my car in a nice gagrage paid for by my client.

Unfortunately I headed back before the congestion charge period ended. No problem, so I have to pay. When I got back home I Googled 'London Congestion Charge' and up popped "Pay your congestion charge". Click and I'm in to the official looking site.

Hell's teeth! They've upped the charge to £15! (It still didn't click, despite having had a conversation about having to pay £8 and it being pointed out that the fee was now £10.) Blithely ignorant and stupid I proceeded to enter all my details and cough up £15.

I was on the sign-out screen before I saw a tiny footnote advising me that london-congestion.co.uk is nothing to do with Transport for London.

So beware; don't be a fool like me, make sure you are on the Transport for London site before you start shelling out.

Oh, and the charge is £10.
